Our extensive course on Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) gives detailed understanding and practical guidance on the process of choosing, installing, and using Surge Protection Devices (SPDs). This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to protect electrical systems from sudden increases in voltage by teaching the basics of surge protection and the science underlying Surge Protective Devices (SPDs). The course consists of 18 lectures and 3 hours 8 min. total duration. Section 1 covers the basics of surge protection, including the construction and operation of surge protective devices (SPDs), the significance of Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs), indicator cartridges, and the scientific principles underlying lightning occurrences. Section 3 explores the essential elements of choosing and setting up SPDs, including the selection of operating voltage, voltage protection level, current ratings, coordination, overcurrent protection, and the practical considerations for wiring and conductor cross-sectional area in SPD installations. Section 2 is dedicated to examining the many types of SPDs, their technologies, and requirements, in order to provide a thorough comprehension of the available choices. |
